Madagascar: The armed and security forces are engaged in the path of neutrality in the elections
While the first round of presidential elections is scheduled on July 24, with other polls that follow in the wake of legislative and municipal governments, senior officials of the armed and security forces (police and gendarmerie) of Madagascar, signed Wednesday, an official document that commits them to keep neutrality throughout the electoral process.

"Strict punishment which can go up to the statutory penalties await those who do not comply with this requirement of neutrality", warned General Rakotoarimasy, Minister of the Armed Forces.
 
The Minister also said that the involvement of members of police or military "could lead to unimaginable risk of injury and damage to the detriment of the nation".
