Madagascar: The Secretary General of the International Organization of the Francophonie in the Island next March




The Canadian Michaëlle Jean, 57, secretary general of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) elected in late November 2014 is expected to set foot on the Malagasy soil around March 20, the day is celebrated the International Day of the Francophonie.
 
 As a reminder, the 16th Francophonie Summit will be held in Madagascar in 2016.
 
Madagascar was reintegrated to the Standing institution at the end of the month of Council in March 2014 in the wake of the return to the constitutional order of the Island after five years of the transition plan. Madagascar had been suspended by the OIF in April 2009, following the accession to power of Andry Rajoelina and exile of President Marc Ravalomanana ousted in March 2009.
