Madagascar: The Programme of the United Nations for the development at the bedside of the island in 2014

Representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with local partners brainstormed last week in Antsirabe, in the center of the country, on various programs to deploy Madagascar in 2014 to fight against poverty and support the socio-economic development of the island.

140 UNDP stakeholders, ministries, local authorities, the private sector and members of UNESCO worked on several themes such as better governance, poverty reduction, enhancement and protection of the environment and management of risks and disasters, as the newspaper Les Nouvelles of Madagascar relates.

The UNDP will also help to strengthen onsite in particular the new Malagasy institutions elected outputs of the polls and develop social cohesion, national reconciliation and the promotion of human rights for Madagascar.
Five new protected areas should also be created in the island, while emphasizing the policy of sustainable land management in the country, and an assessment of capacity for protection of local biodiversity will also be conducted.
