Madagascar: The Malagasy handicrafts sector booming in 2013 despite the political crisis of the five last years




The craft sector in Madagascar in 2013 generated a revenue of 13,375,455 euros, or 10% of GDP of the Island.
 
An efficient sector while the country experienced five years of political and institutional crisis which have strongly impacted the Malagasy economy.
 
National Centre of Malagasy crafts (Cenam) brought his stone to the building, particularly in the context of the conquest of the external market through the establishment of the virtual Gallery of African crafts passed by 28 countries of the continent.
 
The concept of virtual gallery of African crafts is to sell online the craft products of the 28 member countries "on career resource centers (PRC) that have been implemented in 10 pilot countries, including Madagascar," as indicated by the newspaper Les Nouvelles of Madagascar.
