Madagascar: The Japanese International cooperation agency wants to continue the support for the development of the island

The Japan International cooperation agency (JICA) has reiterated its desire to support Madagascar in the development of the island for years.

"Under better auspices now, JICA activities will certainly increase. With the assistance of Malagasy technicians and communities, the Japanese expertise will endeavour to provide the best answers to the global problems of Madagascar", assured Sasadate Koichi, permanent representative of the Japan International cooperation agency in Madagascar, and who will retire this year and will be replaced by Akira Nishimoto.

JICA supports Madagascar in perennial rural, social and economic development projects.

The Japan International cooperation agency has thus injected during the last months 7 million dollars for a project of improving rice productivity in the heart of the Highlands of the central plateau, as well as 7 other million for rural development and the conservation of soils and also 4 million dollars for a project of aquaculture of tilapia in Majunga as indicated in the Midi Madagasikara newspaper.
