Madagascar: The European Union will unfreeze the funds for the island for the 11th EDF in 2015

The 450 million euros granted to Madagascar by the European Union under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) should be released by the year 2015 according to the new Ambassador of the EU in the island, Antonio Sanchez-Benedito.

The diplomat explained on the side of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Anosy than unblocking funds would be based on the priorities established by the Malagasy authorities over the next five years and through the national program of development (NDP) which should be completed within five months, as reported by the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.

"Most importantly, is the appropriation of the Malagasy part... We will align ourselves with the priorities of the Government," has put forward the new EU Ambassador to Madagascar, Antonio Sanchez-Benedito.
