Madagascar: The European Union puts on the table 6 million euros to fund half of the expenditures for the next census

The Ambassador of the Union European (EU) in Madagascar, Leonidas Tezapsidis announced that the EU will grant financial assistance of 6 million euro, i.e. half of the funds for the implementation of the third census in the island whose last dated to 1993.
 In 2003, the scheduled census was unable to be performed due to lack of financial means to the Malagasy authorities.
"The census is a best tool to aid in decision making, to identify available resources and identify the needs of the country", said the Ambassador of the European Union in Madagascar.
As a reminder, the World Bank and agencies dependent on United Nations will also bring their financial assistance to the realization of this next census budget is estimated at about 12 million euros.
