Madagascar: The European Commissioner in charge of development in the island

Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner in charge of development, is currently in Madagascar at the head of a delegation.
 
A shift from June 11 to June 13, 2014, who wants to confirm on the ground the full resumption of development cooperation of the European Union with Madagascar and begin preliminary discussions on the European funds programmed for the 2014-2020 period, as reported by the newspaper La Gazette de Madagascar.
 
"The European Union stands alongside Madagascar on the new path it has chosen to borrow towards stability, good governance and reforms. It is important now to give the kickoff of the programming of the cooperation of the European Union for the coming years and to ensure that we are targeting the areas likely to be the most beneficial for the development of the country," said Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner in charge of development.
 
"To support the democratic transition in the short term, the European Union is currently organising a post-election package of 97 million euros to support the reconstruction of the institutions of the State and strengthen the capacity of the administration", has also put forward in a press release of the European delegation in Madagascar.
