Fishing of shrimp in Madagascar was officially reopened this weekend after three months of closure in the wake of a sustainable management plan fishery resources.

40 fishing licences have thus been granted for this new season, in the form of professional reauthorisation, six Malagasy companies to operate on shrimp fishing areas, as indicated in the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.

According to figures released by the fish health authority (HSA), shrimp fishing in the island has experienced a slight decline, from 3.113 to 3.038 tons between 2012 and 2013.
