Madagascar: Several institutions and senior army officers want a postponement of the first round of presidential elections on 24 July

Several institutions, including the Council for the Malagasy reconciliation and the Monitoring Committee and Control Roadmap, associated with high-ranking army in Madagascar specifically request to the Independent National Electoral Commission for the transition (CENIT), in consultation with the United Nations, to temporarily postpone the first round of presidential elections set for 24 July.
 
In a statement, they want to get a one-month period to better prepare the electoral process in Madagascar and find in favor of the tense political situation in recent days following, as shown in the site lexpressmada.com.
 
"We initiate a process to help break the deadlock. However, our action to achieve positive results, request a period not exceeding one month ... Only elections in a peaceful environment can guarantee peace" , they emphasize.
