Andry Rajoelina, a candidate for the presidential election in Madagascar to be held in all likelihood on August 23, but that for now an electoral calendar is formally established by the CENIT (National Independent Electoral Commission for the Transition), decided not to resign as president of the Transition, while awaiting the official confirmation of the election date.

An announcement made this weekend while traveling in Fianarantsoa in the south-east of the Big Island where Rajoelina also called on the population to support him for "not selling Madagascar" and that, due to pressure from the international community so that he withdraws just like Didier Ratsiraka and Lalao Ravalomanana, as indicated by the newspaper
of Madagascar.

Andry Rajoelina has also sharply criticized the position of the group of twenty candidates who asks him to withdraw from the race for the presidency, by qualifying them as "jealous" and "hateful" people, wanting only "sow trouble".
