Madagascar: Rajoelina called the armed forces to be the last ramparts to defend the sovereignty of the Big Island
The President of the Transition, Andry Rajoelina, and candidate for the next presidential election postponed indefinitely for the time being, and a few days before the ultimatum of the International Contact Group on Madagascar (ICG-M), which expires on July 31 for he withdrew from the race for the presidency, as Lalao Ravalomanana and Didier Ratsiraka, has a strong appeal, this weekend, during an official ceremony at the Military Academy of Antisrabe the country's armed forces to defend the sovereignty of the Big Island.
 
"You are the last ramparts, especially when it comes to defending the country or sovereignty. The eyes of citizens and Madagascans turn to you ... Fortunately, you have proven in history that the armed forces have always assumed their responsibilities for the defense of the country ... May you always be first in line to defend the sovereignty, solidarity and raise national pride and patriotism", said Andry Rajoelina in his speech to the military.

As a reminder, the International Contact Group for Madagascar (ICG-M), after several consultations with Madagascar in mid-July, has issued an ultimatum to the three candidates to resign before the end of their application, otherwise the immediate application of targeted sanctions (travel ban and assets freeze on the outside) decided on June 26 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as shown in the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.
