Madagascar: Quarrel between the African Union and SADC on the exercise of sanctions against the leaders of the Transition
While the African Union has recently communicated that the lifting of sanctions against the leaders of the Transition in Madagascar linked to the return of political exiles including the former President Marc Ravalomanana, the SADC (Southern African Development Community) states on his side to be opposed to this proposed solution without prior consultation.

The Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Membe Kamillius, head of SADC believes that this process "has not been developed in coordination with SADC. The latter has a different point of view in relation to what has been reflected in this release. The lifting of sanctions discussed by the international community is not at all influenced by the return of former president Marc Ravalomanana. "

A strong position asserted earlier this week in Madagascar while the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs came to meet the President of the Transition, Andry Rajoelina.
As a reminder, the sanctions imposed by the African Union leaders concern 109 Transition.
