Madagascar: President Hery Rajaonarimampianina will plead to the United States the reinstatement of his country to the AGOA




While the Malagasy president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, went to the United States early next week, the new strong man of Madagascar said you want to argue for the reinstatement of his country within AGOA and this, after the exclusion of the island in 2009 in the wake of the overthrow of the former president Marc Ravalomanana.

"I'll go to work. When we speak of the United States, we automatically think of the AGOA because this affects hundreds of thousands of jobs," said the Malagasy president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina.
 
In mid-January, representatives and Malagasy emissaries, via the Embassy of the island to Washin­gton, were already invited to presenting the case to the International Trade Commission in the United States.
 
According to some sources relayed by the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar, the final decision will be nevertheless unveiled in November, hence probably the need for the new Malagasy president in exercise, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, no doubt accelerate the initial timetable.
 
As a reminder, 37 countries in sub-Saharan Africa benefit from AGOA (exemption from customs duties) for their export products to the United States.
