Madagascar: President Hery Rajaonarimampianina wants to fight against poverty




The Malagasy president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, committed in midweek during an international symposium which was held at the Carlton hotel of Tananarive to firmly fight poverty.
 
"I am committed to meet all conditions, in order to implement social protection policy which is a lever for development," said president Hery Rajaonarimampianina who also insisted in parallel on the necessary input into the economic circuit of the poorest of society.
 
Hery Rajaonarimampianina also recalled the importance of establishing in the island a public health and education policy to the extent of the challenges.
 
As a reminder, in 2014 "80% of the population have access to social protection, and less than 20% enjoy retirement pension", as reported by the newspaper the L'Express of Madagascar.
 
 In addition, according to the latest statistical elements, 56% of the Malagasy live in "extreme poverty" while the rate of poverty in Madagascar is estimated at nearly 70%.
