Madagascar: Over 9.510 Zebu cattle stolen and not found since 2012 in the southeast of the island
 
The grouping of gendarmerie of the region of Fianarantsoa in southeastern Madagascar recently communicated 9.514 zebus have been stolen from 2012 by the dahalo (thieves of zebus) and without the military could find any trace of the cattle.
 
The police suspect that the stolen zebus have fuelled a vast network of illegal slaughter, and that meat was sold on the markets of the island, as reported by the Tananews site.
 
As a reminder, the theft of Zebu comes from ancient Malagasy tradition, but still a well established traditions in the hinterland.
 
Symbol of virility before marriage, criminal gangs hijacked to it of its meaning first, to transform it into a juicy traffic in Madagascar.
