Madagascar: Over 50,000 Malagasy infected with the AIDS virus




The World Day against AIDS was celebrated yesterday Monday, December 1.
 
Thus, despite the low prevalence rate of AIDS * of 0.4% in Madagascar, there is a worrying increase in the number of people infected with HIV-AIDS virus in the Island.
 
Thus over 50,000 people are now living with HIV in Madagascar according to a recent data from UNAIDS.
 
As a reminder, the prevalence of HIV was 0.02% in 1987 in the Island.
 
* The AIDS prevalence rate is determined by the number of individuals infected compared to the general population of Madagascar
