Madagascar: Officials of the prison administration in indefinite strike starting as from this Thursday
The 2,300 agents of the Malagasy prison for more than 20,000 prisoner decided to launch an unlimited strike in the prisons of Madagascar movement to put pressure on the Government of Transition.
 
Since 2010, they call for the same 15% salary increase granted at the time the police and gendarmes in the island.

Tired of waiting for a hypothetical appreciation of their treatment and after the failure of negotiations conducted directly with Prime Minister Jean Omer Beriziky, agents of the
Malagasy government pass to the next level and ensure no more from this Thursday the new incarcerations and deferrals to the courts.

Families of prisoners, however, may come to visit their relatives in prison until early next week, where visits will also be prohibited if the Malagasy authorities do not respond by then their demand for wage increase, as shown the newspaper Express of Madagascar.
