Madagascar: Malaria declined substantially since 2007, but still deadly
Malaria in Madagascar has declined sharply since 2007, when the disease was the leading cause of hospitalization in the Big Island.

However malaria was demoted in 2011, ranked eighth of hospitalizations in Madagascar, as announced Johanita Ndahimananjara, Minister of Health.

But since the beginning of this year, two eastern regions of the Big Island (Vatovavy-Fitovinany Atsimo Atsinana) as well as Androy region in South were hit hard by a resurgence of the disease.

Malaria has also resulted in the death of twenty children in the district Ankazobe in the center of the country.
