Madagascar : Madagascar rewarded for its fight against malaria

Madagascar has been rewarded for its fight against malaria. The President of the Republic, Hery  Rajaonarimampiana, who was in Addis-Ababa, in Ethiopia for the 22nd Summit of African Union, has received the 2014 African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) Award during a ceremony  on 30 January.

The President, in his turn, officially presented the trophy to Olga Vaomalala Ramaroson, Minister of Health, on last Wednesday at the State palace Ivaloha, in the south of Antanananarivo.

Malaria was earlier at the third position among the disease causing more deaths in Madagascar but today, it is in the eighth place, due to is significant efforts to fight against this disease.

The president has therefore said that he will bring all his support to fight against malaria. Hery Rajaonarimampiana has affirmed that this disease will be completely eradicated in Madagascar in 2015.

He then spoke about his priorities concerning the public health in the Big island, especially the health centres which were shut down, will start operate, as reported by midi-madagasikara.mg.
