Madagascar: Locusts devastate 2,000 acres fields of corn and rice
The locust invasion that threatens two thirds of Madagascar continues to wreak havoc, particularly in the fields of corn and rice.

The island has not been faced with such a crisis since 1950.

Nine regions of Madagascar, South West as well as Malagasy High plateaus thus launched an emergency appeal to the authorities to stop the advance of swarms of billions of locusts that destroyed everything in their path.

Eventually, rice production in Madagascar may suffer heavy losses in the amount of 60%.
