Madagascar: Hery Rajaonarimampianina proclaimed winner of the presidential election by the special Electoral Court




Not surprisingly, the Special Electoral Court (ETUC) has designed Hery Rajaonarimampianina, age of 55 years and former Minister of finance, as winner of the second round of the presidential election of December 20 against Jean-Louis Robinson of the Avana party which was supported by the Ravalomanana movement.
 
Hery Rajaonarimampianina, who had the support of the outgoing transition regime headed by Andry Rajoelina was declared shortly after noon this Friday, January 17, 2014, first President of the Fourth Republic of Madagascar.
 
As a reminder, the former Minister of finance, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, tallied after the counting of the Special Electoral Court (CES) 53.49% of the vote (2.060.124 votes), against 46.51% (1.791.336 votes) to his opponent of the Avanà Party, Jean-Louis Robinson.
 
As a reminder, 50.67% of the 7.968.321 Malagasy registered voters had voted in the election of December 20, 2013 to choose who would occupy the seat as President for the next five years in the island.
