Madagascar: France calls its citizens to the utmost vigilance in Tananarive

France through a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls its citizens, at the approach of year-end festivities, the utmost vigilance following the deterioration of security conditions in the Malagasy capital Tananarive.

"Robberies and assault with violence suffered recently several people highlight the deterioration of the security situation in Tananarive, which should further worsen with the approach of year-end celebrations. No area is spared and in particular places frequented by tourists (stairs leading to the Rova, Independence Avenue and market Analakely, restaurants). It is recommended to be more vigilant than ever, even in apparently calm places and restaurants. When walking, daytime, it is advisable to wear the least possible personal effects (valuables and bags to avoid) ", said the release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

France also asked its citizens to increase vigilance throughout Malagasy territory in the wake of the ongoing electoral process in the island.
"The electoral period, the next step will be the second round of the presidential elections and the parliamentary elections on 20 December, is likely to have an impact on the level of insecurity. Rallies and demonstrations are anticipated, risks of spills are not excluded", also highlights the release of French diplomacy from the Quai d'Orsay.
