Madagascar: Five fishermen missing off the Southeast coast of the island




Five fishermen went missing in Manakara, in southeastern Madagascar, after not having given any sign of life since last Tuesday, according to the local gendarmerie.
 
One of their relative worried about not seeing them return alerted rescuers in the afternoon of yesterday.

Significant logistical resources were immediately deployed area to find the missing fishermen out at sea by "bad weather", but for now the latter still remain missing.
 
Their heavily damaged canoe has nevertheless been located in the channel of Pangalana, not far from a river mouth, according to the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.
