Madagascar: Didier Ratsiraka, " France asked me to help Andry Rajoelina to ouster Marc Ravalomanana"
Dismissed from the race of the Malagasy Supreme judiciary by the Special Electoral Court (CES) on August 22, the former president, Didier Ratsiraka, 76 years old, returned to Madagascar in mid-April, affirmed Wednesday during a television broadcast on the private channel TV plus Madagascar, France had specifically asked for his help to oust the President Marc Ravalomanana recounting the events of early 2009, which led to the overthrow of the latter.

" France asked me to help Andry Rajoelina ousting Marc Ravalomanana", argued Didier Ratsiraka who refused the proposal at first before accepting it once he was assured that it was not a coup d'etat.

"It was agreed that Marc Ravalomanana would leave power without bloodshed. And after his ouster, it should establish a collaborative transition... Andry Rajoelina was in agreement", said the former Malagasy president Didier Ratsiraka.

He continues by revealing that Andry Rajoelina had visited him at his trsident in Neuilly-sur-Seine and had certified that he would be welcome on his return in the island.

In January 2009, Andry Rajoelina, a young first magistrate who holds the reins of the city of Tananarive and in open war with the regime of Marc Ravolamanana, was at the head of a vast popular uprising to protest the closure of its channel Viva TV, after the broadcast of an interview with former President Ratsiraka, in exile on the French soil.

Disorders who made a hundred deaths, including 36 protesters killed by bullets, by the presidential guard on February 7, 2009 before the Ambohitsirohitra Palace in Tananarive.
 
Andry Rajoelina then proclaimed president of a High Authority of Transition, forcing Marc Ravalomanana, abandoned by the army, to resign.
