Madagascar: Development of ecotourism of whales at Sainte-Marie Island
The association of protection of cetaceans, CetaMada and the Ministry of Tourism of Madagascar has decided to combine their efforts to develop an ecotourism around whales of the Sainte-Marie Island.
 
This activity will drain in its wake a tourism high-impact according to the authorities of the Big Island who decided to make it a government priority, as related lexpressmada.com.
 
"We have a close relationship with the private operators for many years. They support us at the logistical level, and many others. The development of ecotourism has a future in Madagascar, but it must be framed so that it can be beneficial to everyone", said proudly Henry Bellon, Chairman of CetaMada.
 
A thousand of marine mammals, of which humpback whales converge from June to October, in the channel of Sainte Marie Island located along the east coast of Madagascar, to breed.
As from November, the whales then begin their long journey from Madagascar to the waters abounding in fishes of the Antarctic.
