Lalao Ravalomanana has been designated by her husband, Marc Ravalomanana, former president of Madagascar, deposed in March 2009, as a candidate for the presidential elections of next July.

A meeting of thirty members of the Ravalomanana with their political leader, exiled for 4 years in South Africa, resulted in the decision to submit Lalao Ravalomanana to the presidency of the Big Island.

"We affirm our willingness to go for election to end the crisis. This is the only way to measure the forces of political parties ... But we boycott the elections if one refuses the folder of our candidate", specified Mamy Rakotoarivelo, Chief Ravalomanana Madagascar, to the site lexpressmada.com.

The former president of Madagascar, Marc Ravalomanana, also waived his return to Madagascar before the elections in his country.

A new showdown may be initiated with the authorities of the transition as the electoral code provides a home for 6 months on the Malagasy soil before the official date of filing of applications, in order to run for president of Madagascar.

Lalao Ravalomanana does not meet these eligibility requirements.

Marc Ravalomanana's wife is currently on the Big Island since March 12, having been authorized by the authorities of the Transition, to return to Madagascar for humanitarian reasons to be at the bedside of his sick mother.
