Madagascar: Attacks of Somalian pirates cost 6.5 million dollars annually to the Malagasy economy




According to the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) Somalian pirates who operate their misdeeds particularly in the Mozambique Channel against merchant vessels and of their occupants would impact heavily on the economy of the Island.
 
6.5 million dollars annually would thus be lost by the Malagasy economy after the vessels navigating to Madagascar were attacked and looted of their merchandise.
