The French government through the diplomatic channel of the Quai d'Orsay informed, following a decision taken on June 6, Andry Rajoelina, Didier Ratsiraka and Ravalomanana Lalao, candidates in the Malagasy presidential election of their formal prohibition of stay on the French ground.

The French authorities reproach the three candidates to continue to seek the highest office in Madagascar, despite pressure from the international community and the European Union for their withdrawal in the presidential race.

Eventually, the freezing of financial and real estate assets held by the three candidates could be hired.

With the implementation of the recent of information system and Schengen visas centralization in early June, Andry Rajoelina, Didier Ratsiraka and Ravalomanana Lalao are also forbidden to reside in all countries of the European Union.

The prohibition of French territory is also valid for families close to three candidates targeted by these bans visas in the Schengen area.
