Madagascar: A framework plan of the United Nations for assistance in the development of the island amounted to 523.4 million plan dollars

The UN framework for assistance to the UNDAF process was enacted on Tuesday in Tananarive during a workshop that was held at the Hotel Colbert.

The Minister of economy and planning, the general of Division Herilanto Raveloharison, and the permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in Madagascar, Fatma Samoura, were present along with representatives of the Malagasy Government, deputies, representatives of the United Nations, donors as well as various personalities of civil society and the private sector.

In the wake of the speech of general policy of Prime Minister Roger Kolo, the framework plan of the United Nations development assistance puts at the disposal of the authorities of the island 523.4 million dollars for the period 2015-2019.

Three strategic axes are formulated in the use of these funds to develop Madagascar, namely the reduction of extreme poverty in the country, the increase of 15 % of public expenditure in a policy of regional decentralisation and sustainable access for the population of the island to education, health, clean water, but also a decrease in maternal and child mortality as reported by the Midi Madagasikara newspaper.
