Madagascar: A former gendarme and two soldiers arrested with a dozen accomplices for a series of armed attacks

Fifteen people were detained at the remand of Miarinarivo in midweek prosecuted for their involvement in a series of robberies of stores and trucks in Itasy and Vakinankaratra regions located in the province of Tananarive.
An ex-gendarme and two officers of the army are part of individuals placed under warrant of committal.

The conspiracy was partially dismantled after several of them were caught last October 30 in flagrante delicto of robbing a truck with on board twenty traders they had stripped.

During the violent clash that was followed with the law enforcement, four perpetrators were shot dead by gendarmes and three others arrested including the former policeman.
Weapons (Kalashnikov rifles and automatic pistols) and several million ariarys booty have thus been able to be recovered.

The suspects have then delivered in tight interrogations the identity of their alleged accomplices who were arrested immediately.
Three motorcycles and a car used in the robberies and the guns were also seized during the different searches. The Group of criminals would consist of thirty men according to the gendarmes who are actively soughing other suspects now on the run after the vast haul, as shown in the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.
