Madagascar: 4.200 tortoise shells found from some ten poachers
16 alleged poachers were arrested early in the week in Fotadrevo in Beloha district in the heart of the great southern Madagascar.

The suspects, including two women, are accused of stealing turtles within the nature reserves of the place.

4,200 shells were thus found alongside them, and police suspect the poachers had sold a large amount of protected turtles to the local population after having roasted them to the grill, as reported by L'Express of Madagascar.

“People behind those crimes against the environment operate in network. They are many to crack down forests”, puts forward Sylvain Mahazotahy who works in an association of turtle protection.
