Madagascar: 367 requests for new municipalities received by the Ministry of Interior and Decentralisation in the Island




 
The Ministry of Interior and Decentralisation of Madagascar recorded 367 requests for new municipalities in the Island to the expiration of the legally deadline set in early this week.
 
"We will meet to consider such new requests. Several criteria are taken into account: Economic, social and geographic criteria," has highlighted Thierry Rakotonarivo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior and Decentralization, as reported by the newspaper Midi Madagasikara.
 
As a reminder, 1,549 municipalities are now counted in Madagascar, three cities with special status, Tananarive, Sainte-Marie and Nosy Be.
