Madagascar: 25 million euro for the fourth turbine at the hydroelectric power station of Andekaleka




Jirama in charge of electrical services to the Malagasy public sector and the Department of Energy is currently working on an installation project of a fourth turbine at the hydroelectric power station of Andekaleka built in 1982 and fueling the capital Tananarive by already providing more than 30% of the electricity consumed.
 
The project will be supported by the European Investment Bank for 25 million euros.
 
As a reminder, Madagascar is subject to an average of 624 hours of load shedding of electricity per year, or 26 days in total. The compensation occur on average for 8 hours, and about 78 times each year in the wake of the financial difficulties of Jirama in charge of serving the public network.
