The Seychelles Tourism Academy has agreed to use the Ethiopian Airlines as one of the airlines it uses for its passenger transportation services, while in return the airline will provide a discounted fare and other privileges to the institution.
The terms and conditions are set forth in a memorandum of understanding which was signed this week between the Seychelles Tourism Academy and the Ethiopian Airlines.
Present at the signing ceremony were the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune, the chairperson of the academy’s board of governance John Stravens and members of the institution’s management.
Signing the accord were the principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy Flavien Joubert and the area manager of Ethiopian Airlines based in Seychelles Meseret Tekalign.
Mr Joubert thanked the Ethiopian Airlines for the new partnership formed. He added that many negotiations have been done with the airline.
"The Seychelles Tourism Academy needs the support of its partners for it to be successful" Mr Flavien Joubert said.
Mrs Tekalign on her part said the signed document will surely take the longstanding cooperation and commitment between the academy and the airline to greater heights.
She added that it will also play a key role in the development of a sustainable tourism and hospitality industry.
“I would like to affirm the Ethiopian Airlines commitment to offer convenient and seamless connections to and from our more than 92 international destinations across five continents using modern and youngest fleet in Africa,” Mrs Tekalign said.
Ethiopia Airlines is at present the largest profitable and fastest growing airline in Africa and has become a strong brand, and a major player in the tourism sector.
Minister St.Ange said it is always encouraging to see partners coming together for one cause.
He added that the ministry will keep opening doors to its partners, adding that the Ethiopian Airlines is a faithful partner to the Seychelles.
Minister St.Ange also expressed words of thanks to Ethiopian Airlines for their support and commitment towards the tourism academy of our country. The Minister went on to say that the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and its Tourism Board will continue to work with serious trade partners who are committed to the island's tourism industry.
