The increase in tourist arrivals coincides with a development in the airline industry.
Swiss company Edelweiss is returning to Mauritius in 2016 for the tourist season, contributing to market diversification.
It is now possible to make reservations for departures directly on the website, for example, 30 September 2016.
The company's A330 airbus will fly out from Zurich under code WK70 at 17:55, reaching Plaisance at 07:00 the following morning.
 
Flights from Zurich to Mauritius will start at almost 968 Swiss francs per passenger, which is over 35,000 MUR or 895 euros.
