On the eve of presidential elections in Madagascar in July, and after eleven years of exile in France, the former president, Didier Ratsiraka, 76 years, returns today, Thursday, April 18, 2013, in his country.
He wishes to contribute to the reconstruction of his country in crisis since 2009, prior to the presidential election.
Didier Ratsiraka will participate in the coming hours, to a meeting, initiated under the auspices of the World Council of Christian Churches in Madagascar, "open to all" political, military and civil society.
The former Malagasy president plans to defend the idea of ​​a genuine national reconciliation of all forces.
"I come because the summit conference is open to all, which we called our vows for two years, will finally be realized. I expect after a national consensus dialogue in truth, in order to find a lasting solution to the crisis existing", said Didier Ratsiraka, to the site of Radio France International.
The admiral Didier Ratsiraka was in power in Madagascar for 21 years, from 1975 to 1991 and from 1993 to 2001, leading the Big Island on the principles of socialist communist revolution.
Didier Ratsiraka left Madagascar in 2002 for exile in France after the presidential election of 16 December 2001. Marc Ravalomanana and Didier Ratsiraka then disputed the democratic result of the first round of voting.
