While torrential rains descended on Port-Louis from 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, helicopters of the Mauritian Police arrived at the area of tragedy to help relief efforts, more than three hours after.

The first helicopter Fennec type took off around 4:30 p.m. from the base of Plaisance and a second device "Cheetak" took the direction of the Mauritian capital at 17:15.

In addition, their involvement was limited in time, because of the darkness that was soon to emerge on Port Louis.
Several reasons are offered to explain the delay, fog in the south of the island that has grounded the aircraft and the presence of a single crew during Saturdays and Sundays.

The information is relayed by lexpress.mu site, according to sources inside the Central Casernes (Editor's note: Police Headquarters in Mauritius).
