Comoros: The Agence française de Développement finances the preservation of the marine park of Mohéli of 3 million euros

The Agence française de Développement (AFD) allocated 3 million euros (1,476 billion Comorian francs) to support the development of the marine park of Mohéli.
 
This funding taking place over three years and acted by a convention will serve to preserve the exceptional diversity of the marine park.
 
“This funding has for global aim to contribute to the conservation of the marine and terrestrial biodiversity, of the Union of Comoros by reinforcing the marine park of Mohéli in its missions of conservation and local development”, explained Philipe Lacoste, French ambassador in the Union of Comoros.
 
The project is thus put forward around four axis, namely; “the consolidation of the governance of the park, the implementation of a sustainable financial tool for the park, the preservation of marine and terrestrial biodiversity and finally, the engagement of protection community of the park and the support of their development”, as reported by the La Gazette des Comores newspaper.
 
As a reminder, the marine park of Mohéli sees about 30.000 turtles arrived on its shores every year.
