The Sultanate of Oman will provide ten million dollars (more than 3,8 billion of Comoros currency) for a period of five years for developing the infrastructures in the archipelago of Union of the Comoros.

This follows the recent visit of a delegation, dispatched in Moroni by Sultan Qabus Bin Said and led by Sultanate of Oman's ambassador, Cheikh Yahya Abdullah Al-Areini, to President of the Republic of Union of the Comoros, Ikililou Dhoinine, at Palace of Beit-Salam. This visit is part of a follow-up of the official visit made by the Comoros President in the Sultanate of Oman last December.

"We have come to identify the priority development projects", said Al-Areini. He recalled that in 1970, Oman resembled the Comoros "without road, without hospital, with only a school". The Sultanate of Oman, he stated, aims to prioritise the infrastructures and training for Omani citizens. The Oman delegation's visit was able to examine the priority fields of Comoros.

President Ikililou hopes that "part of these funds could be used in the construction of town halls" because they play "an extremely important role in the development of Comoros", as reported by beit-salam, official website of the office of Union of the Comoros.
