Comoros: Principle agreement between the islands and New Zealand for geothermal exploitation of Karthala volcano




 
The Comorian authorities had acted at the end of September on the sideline of the latest annual assembly of United-Nation of New York a principle agreement with New Zealand on the exploitation of the geothermic energy of the active volcano Karthala which culminate at 2.361 meters of altitude on the island of Grande Comore.
 
The Comorian Ministers of Foreign Affaires and of New Zealand had thus initialed the agreement between the two countries.
 
According to Naoildine Houmadi, chief of geological Bureau of Comoros (BGC), “technical document is being written."
 
The African Union is also ready to financially help to realize the project in terms of studies and which should approach the 100 million Comorian francs, that is, some 203.045 euros, as reported by the Comorian newspaper Alwatwan.
