Some young people from rival neighborhoods of the town of Iconi in the South West of Grande Comore, have once again lit the city this weekend after the clashes of last December.

Violent confrontations took place around the public square of Iconi, severely damaged by the violent outbursts.

Youngsters from the neighborhood of Mraboini who were not associated with a collective prayer in the open air decided to disrupt the religious ceremony and ransacked on site. A shower of stones made rapidly flee the organizers and participants of the ceremony.

The police reinforcements were sent to restore order after a few hours. One seriously injured was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Many families of Iconi have chosen to leave the city for this weekend, for fear of further violence between rival neighborhoods.
