Comoros: New committee to fight against violent clashes between villages
A new inter-village under the auspices of the Governor of Grande Comore Committee was initiated to decipher the causes of potential conflicts between villages, as was the case in mid-June at the latest clashes between Pidjani and Oungoni.
 
The committee in charge of finding pragmatic solutions to address any such incident on the field is composed of the legal advisor to the Governor, the President of the Administrative Division of the Supreme Court, the commander of the gendarmerie, the police chief in Grande Comore, an advisor to the Court of Appeal and the President of the Comoros Football.
 
As a reminder, violent clashes and looting occurred after a football game at the end of June and broke out between inhabitants of the villages of Pidjani and Oungoni.
 
A clash in an electric atmosphere that caused heavy damage, with 17 houses burnt at Oungoni and water tank in the village of Pidjani was severely damaged.
