Comoros: Load shedding of electricity still recurring in Moroni

The public company Ma-Mwe, in charge of the management and distribution of electricity in the Comoros archipelago, proceeds since several months to significant load shedding on its network and can no longer today ensure the continuity of its services day and night.

Thus many areas of Moroni are without electricity for almost 4 or five hours during the day. Officials of the public company have lately explained being waiting for the upcoming arrival of four generators which can provide 4.8 megawatts so that the situation improves.

On a reminder note, since 2012, the financial state of the public company Ma-Mwe are in the red, while at the same time, annual payroll is estimated at 1.1 billion Comorian francs, slightly more than 2.2 million euros.
