Comoros: Inauguration of a warehouse of emergency materials to deal with natural disasters in the archipelago

In order to reduce criticism and respond quickly to potential natural disasters in the heart of the archipelago, the Croissant rouge of Comoros, and the Platform for regional intervention of the Indian Ocean (PIROI) launched at the end of last week a warehouse where different intervention materials disaster (volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods, etc..) that could hit the islands of the archipelago.

This warehouse of humanitarian emergency and the various hardware available were mainly financed by the French Development Agency (AFD) to the tune of 231.000 euro, 113 million Comorian francs, as indicated by the newspaper La Gazette des Comores .
 
"Natural disasters strike when least expects them. This is why we all need to prepare ourselves to face it ... The large amount of material to be stored in this warehouse will enable the national society to improve its deployment capabilities. Consequently, it will allow the Croissant Rouge to be better prepared for the reduction of risks associated with natural disasters, "recalled Moustadrane Ben Salim, President of the Comoros red Crescent who welcomed the development establishment of this new strategic tool.
