Comoros: European Union grants a fund of 730,000 euro to the archipelago

The European Union has pledged in the Comorian authorities for funding of 730,000 euros (359 million Comorian francs), and this, in respect of the European Development Fund (EDF) after an initial envelope released in 2010 of 1.5 million euros.
 
This allocated amount should be invested in "the identification and formulation of new programs, and monitoring and evaluation of the cooperation programs" for the socio-economic development of the Comoros archipelago.
 
A portion of funds will also go "for the benefit of the National Commission for Prevention and fight against Corruption (CNPLC) to enable it to strengthen its capacity for action and thus towards the improvement of the climate of trust between public authorities, private investors and civil society, basis of equitable and sustainable growth", as indicated in the release from the Ministry of Comorian finance.
 
Mohamed Ali Sayeed, Vice President in charge of the Ministry of finance and Eduardo Campos Martins, attached business of the European Union delegation in Mauritius have signed the financing agreement in the context of the 11th European Development Fund, according to the newspaper La Gazette des Comores.
