Comoros: Economic development between Mauritius and the archipelago with the signing of a cooperation agreement

The authorities of the archipelago of Comoros and the Government of Mauritius signed earlier this week in Port Louis an agreement aimed to strengthen relations between the two countries in the Indian Ocean area through various sectors such as agriculture.

Transport, communications, digital connectivity and the blue economy are also part of this bilateral cooperation agreement.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mauritius Arvin Boolell, and his Comorian counterpart, El-Anrif Said Hassane, thus enacted the new axis of economic development looming between the two nations for the coming months.

A Committee regrouping officials from each country was also decided to address issues relating to the supply of foodstuffs, tourism, eco-tourism and the fisheries sector.

In addition, a double taxation agreement between Mauritius and the Comoros archipelago as well as the promotion and protection of investment are already under discussion between the two partners, as pointed out in the Le Matinal newspaper.
