In November 1975, China is the first nation to officially recognize the sovereignty of the Comoros archipelago.

As a reminder, Comoros, under the impulse of Ahmed Abdallah had declared their independence on July 6, 1975. The referendum of December 1974, a large majority (95%) on Grande Comore, Moheli and Anjouan, for the sovereignty all the Comorian islands, sealed the fate of the new state of the Comoros.
