Comoros: 20 tons of potato seed received by the national federation of farmers of the archipelago

About 20 tons of potato seeds from Netherlands has recently been received in a container by the national federation of farmers of Comoros (FNAC).

The latter has thus ordered these seeds for an amount of about 8 million Comorian franc (16,272 euro) to overcome the difficulty of potato supply for inhabitants of the archipelago at an affordable price, as relates the La Gazette des Comores newspaper.

“We are doing our best to make potato consummation at the reach of everyone, because we realized that it is consumed in a regular way only by wealthy people…we make an strong appeal to the State to support professional agricultural organisations for, not only to increase the income of peasants but also to fight against the food shortage as well as poverty, enhancing the profession of farmers, knowing that it contributes significantly to the national economy”, said Mohamed Soihir Mohamed, secretary- general of the FNAC.
