Comoros has chaired the Vanilla Islands Association since 1st January and will continue to do so for the rest of 2017.
A few days before the Top Résa trade fair and a meeting of the association's tourism ministers, Vice-President Djaffar Ahmed Said Hassani, in charge of the Ministry of Economy, Planning, Energy, Industry, Handicraft, Tourism, Investment, Private Sector and Land Affairs wished to review progress.

A working meeting took place in Moroni on Saturday, 2 September, in the presence of the Vice-President, the Secretary of State for Tourism, the National Director of Tourism, the President of the National Tourist Office, the Vice-President in charge of Tourism and the Director of the Vanilla Islands.

It appears that tourism figures are increasing, not only for the archipelago but also for the whole region and that prospects are optimistic.

Within the Comoros, the commitment shown by the Vice-President and his teams over the past few months is leading to real progress. For example, a communication specialist will be assigned with the help of the Réunion region, via France Volontaires, to the Office of Tourism to work on the visibility of the tourism offer.
The accession of the Comoros to the World Tourism Organisation, which will take effect in a few days, sends out a strong signal that this region of the world has again become a part of the international community.
